Pumpkins preschool aims to provide a wide range of activities and is suitable for children at different stages of development. The range of activities provided each day is designed to build confidence and independence in your child. Our program of activities helps to fully develop skills such as creative play, gross motor skills alongside basic literacy and numeracy skills. These activities link with Early Years Foundation Stage in the following:

  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding of the world
  • Expressive arts and design
  • Personal, social and emotional development
  • Communication and language
  • Physical development

The class curriculum and teaching methods are carefully planned to respond to the rapidly changing needs of children as they grow. Our curriculum is planned through observation on the children on a daily/weekly basis.

We use the Jolly Phonics system of learning the alphabet as this is the system taught at Wraysbury Primary School and other surrounding schools.

Further information on our curriculum is available on our preschool prospectus.

Key Workers

Each child is assigned a member of staff known as a key worker who initially helps your child settle into preschool. It is their ongoing responsibility to encourage your child in their new environment, observe and record their achievements as well as identify areas for their future development in partnership with parents.
